She's SHY!

Britt has always been such a shy girl and here is an example of her issue manifesting itself!  We are so excited that she made it through her first six weeks of high school successfully and gets to keep on cheerin on those Mavs!   We're especially excited for homecoming next week where Britt gets to cheer at the Varsity football game!  Our family room looks like mum central!  Come and enjoy the festivities with us!

A HUGE Pet Peeve!

Ok, I am just cleaning our house this morning and listening to the View. May I pose a question...Why is it that actors/famous people think that they know EVERYTHING about politics? Many of them are not necessarily educated just famous, in contrast many politicians are highly educated. Apparently fame also makes you smart and makes your opinion the correct one. It drives me up a tree to listen to Woopi Goldberg (however you spell her name) talk about politics as if she is an authority on all things political! The only reason she has a forum to speak about it publically is because some people think she is funny. I have heard Julia Stiles share her opinion that she states as if it were fact! There are many others. It is starting to really bug and I thought I'd share and see if anyone else feels the same way.

Not a creature was stirring...

As I am sitting up in bed tonight, the computer downstairs is off, no music is playing, no popcorn popping in the microwave while girls giggle waiting to watch a movie.  No girls planning a fun day for tomorrow...it's QUIET - almost TOO QUIET!  Just Pookie, Casey and me sitting here.  We have had such a fun summer, it's sad to see it end.  We have made 6 trips to Sea World, (the most fun trip with our cousins from Flower Mound)  We had a fun family reunion, spent many fun hours on Troy and Kristin's boat!!!  Britt and I endured girls camp together even with no shower for  a week.  Britt had a blast at cheer camp!  We've spent lots of hours at the pool at Lifetime talking and Britt daring me to go down the slide!  (which I did last Saturday I'll have you know!)  We had a couple of super fun shopping trips for school stuff.  Today we finished it all off with pedicures!  Now the quiet!  The cute bag we bought weeks ago has been sitting in the shopping bag waiting for tomorrow - lots of firsts...First day of high school, first day of seminary, etc.  I just hope and pray that Britt will be good and have fun high school years with lots of fun memories.  Her first high school game to cheer at is ALREADY this week!!!  I can't believe my baby is going to high school tomorrow!!!!!  Seriously, where has the time gone?  Wish us luck!!!!!

Go Lindi!

I am so excited and proud! My beautiful and talented Niece Lindi auditioned for and made the Dance Fusion Dance Company over the weekend! We share a birthday so I think she's especially NEAT-O! There were lots of girls at the audition and Lindi was one of the few chosen!!! Way to go!!!!!

Yep, we really gave it up!

Our family (Casey is proud to announce) gave up Diet Coke this week (mostly).  Casey got us memberships at Lifetime Fitness under the condition that we give up Diet Coke except for like once a week.  I'm sad to say that we were spending as much on Diet Coke as our membership to Lifetime costs!  Oh my gosh!  So now instead we have a sweet gym to work out in!  We all work out, we have had our hair cut in the salon there, we have had lunch there and LOVE it!  Britt and I are learning to swim laps.  Since it is a mere 105 FREAKING degrees here we spend A LOT of time in the pool!  We are all getting TAN - especially Casey!  This week Britt had a photo shoot with the cheerleaders.  I snapped a few on the side, see below!  Just hours after this picture Britt had SIX inches cut off of her hair!  It's very cute but I could have died watching all of that hair fall to the floor at the salon!  That's it for now!  More to come.....

I need to catch up!!

I have been SO bad about keeping up with my blog!~  Tara and Beth have told me off about it!  It's not that we haven't done anything fun - it's that we HAVE so I don't have time to write about it!!!  For now no fun pictures, just words to catch me up -pics later!  In June we went to our family reunion at Lake Ray Hubbard in Dallas.  We had an AWESOME time together!  It was fun to camp, especially with a mostly non-camping family!  It was so fun to ride to be out on Troy and Kristin's boat - even if we got a WILD ride from Aunt Kristin!   Next Britt and I went to girls camp!  It was fun as usual.  I had a stinking migraine that lasted for 3 days with no relief (including with the Vicodin Casey smuggled in to me).  We also had a ban on showers since the well was broken at the camp.  They had water they just had to conserve it!  I have NEVER gone 4 days without a shower!  It was quite an experience!  Needless to say I was happy to be home!  Following that we had another trip to Dallas and another fun boat ride and shopping with Grandma!  Next we had a super fun vacation with Katie, Alex, Lindi and Anna!  We went to the Hyatt Hill Country Resort for a couple of days!  We had a day at Sea World together and rode every ride there!  Anna rode the ferris wheel with me, we LOVED being at the very top!  We all had a HUGE laugh when Katie (who didn't want to ride the rapids) got SOAKED.  The next morning Katie treated me to my very first massage (as my early birthday present) it was HEAVENLY and it was so fun to sit out in our robes at the spa only pool and visit.  We had lots of fun together!  On to the next thing...I dropped Brittnie-Anne off at her high school on Wed, the cheerleaders went to NCA cheerleading camp at Incarnate Word in San Antonio.  They got to take a charter bus and headed down I35.  I got a text message from Brittnie-Anne today saying that she was nominated for All American Cheerleader!  Aunt Katie who is the cheerleader in our family knows more about it than me and said that it's a big deal!  Apparently the NCA staff walk around and choose girls who they think are outstanding and they are given the opportunity to audition for All American Cheerleader.  Three of the girls chosen are from Britt's school, 2 from the freshman squad and 1 from JV.  I'm heading down to San Antonio tomorrow to stay at my cousin Alicia's so I can attend the tryout and support BA on Friday night and then Alicia and I are going to the "show off day" on Saturday!  Thanks Alicia!!!!  So that should just about catch me up!  Hopefully there will be pics to follow!!!  Whew!!!  In between all of that I've been doing YW stuff and working.  I think I need a vacation FAR away with no phone and no patients to take care of!  Maybe some day!!!!  That's it for now!

Who Knew!?

Who knew Casey was an awesome tile layer?  He just taught himself and he did a great job!  I thought I'd brag on him and share a pic of him working hard!  He has been working on it tirelessly for days now! He is almost finished and we can put his new desk, bookcase, etc. in!  He had to start his job before the room was ready so it will be nice for him to get to move from the dining room into his own new office!   Go get 'em Casey!

We went to our first Cheer Booster Club meeting tonight.  It was a potluck dinner and we had a lot of fun.  They took pics of each squad and then of all of them together.  Britt's squad was missing one girl who had a dance recital tonight.  We ordered the good 'ol back windshield sticker that says Maverick Cheerleader!  WooWoo!!!  We are so excited for this year!  Britt's squad gets to cheer at the Varsity Homecoming game on October 17th on Friday night at the big stadium! Sweet!  C'mon down and watch!  (my camera was a little bit blurry!  Hope you can see!)

Lucky Number 512

Today number 512 was lucky for Britt!  She made 2008-2009 Freshman Cheer squad at McNeil High School!  All of her hard work paid off!  She did great and she made it!  WooWoo!!!!  Go Britt!  Her story from today is when she ran in to her try out and she was supposed to show spirit and she said "go Mavs, beat the Mavericks"!  It was all great after that!  She goes for her uniform fitting on Monday!  Yea for Britt!!!!!

This Week!?#!

No pictures, nothing cute, I am a total stress case this week! As most of you know Britt is trying out for cheerleader this week at McNeil High. She actually wanted to keep it a secret because if she doesn't make it she doesn't want to have to tell anyone! Soooo.....she has gone to 1 prep clinic and learned the chant and dance. Thanks to her private teacher at All That Cheer, Najja, (who she thinks is "hot") she has the chant down cold! She looks totally cute doing it (if I do say so myself). I played the Nazi mom last night and had her practice the dance over and over a million times until she got it. (our neighbor, who is a current cheerleader there, was so sweet to come over and help Britt remember) She totally knows it now - it's been a long time since I did the 5-6-7-8 thing but I must have counted to a million last night... in 8 counts! I finally let her take a shower (listening to the music of course). She said she was "SO HOT" so we went for a slush at Sonic just before 10 last night. This morning she got up and put the song on her ipod and is taking it to school to practice with a friend during their office aid period. When she tried the dance this morning she remembered it all! WooWoo!!!! I was so proud of her for sticking it out last night and working so hard and best of all she was proud of herself! I have called my mom about how in the heck to deal with the fact that my kid could face such disappointment after working so hard, she quickly reminded me of my semester pharmacology tests and the exit exam from nursing school and then the state board! (not to mention our drill team and cheerleading tryouts in high school!). She totally knows the feelings I'm having this week! So even at 37 years old I still need my mom! Just thought I'd share our week! Hopefully it will all work out - she has surely done her best so far! It was so fun this morning to see her so proud of herself! Off to Hobby Lobby for the hair ribbon I've been instructed to purchase!!!!

Post Number deux

Someone's in the dog house!

Ok, while I'm waiting to go to Dallas to learn how to make my blog cool I thought I'd just throw this one in.  There is a new rule at our house that was set by Casey (we're actually on day number two of the new rule)!  It is VERY mean and Britt and I are suffering through our withdrawl issues with huge amounts of difficulty!  So the new rule is-drumroll please- that all dogs have to sleep in their kennels, they are no longer allowed to sleep with us!  I know.... just imagine my little Pookie and Britt's Lupita reduced to sleeping in KENNELS!  That is for BAD dogs-they are our BABIES!  I just know that while I am writing this they are shedding tears and plotting to run away from us as they rest in their side by side kennels!  I tried to reason with Pookie as I was tucking him in his kennel for the night but he just didn't seem to understand!  So there's some news from our house! Keep us in your thoughts! LOL!

Very FIRST blog!

This is my very first post!  So many friends/family have cute blogs!  It is so fun to be able to hear the stories and see the pictures!  We all live so far apart that it's neat to keep in touch this way!  I will TRY to be a good blogger like my Sister-in-law Kristin!  She is AWESOME at keeping up-to-date and sharing fun stories!  Maybe I can chronicle the life of our TEENAGER!  Yikes!  Leave us a message and say hi!  We'll see how this goes!
